The University of Hamburg invites applications for a Research Internship within the DAAD-funded 2026 research project “Hate on the Internet.”
The project examines digital hate, online aggression, and related social and educational constructs among young people, with a strong emphasis on empirical research and international collaboration. The research is conducted in close
cooperation with partner institutions in Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Germany, enabling comparative and cross-cultural perspectives on digital hate in different social, political, and educational contexts. The internship combines remote research collaboration with an intensive on-site research stay at the University of Hamburg.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Research interns will:
• Actively participate in the DAAD-funded research project on hate in the internet
• Design and conduct an independent empirical study aligned with the project’s thematic focus
• Work with and analyze data collected in previous project phases
• Contribute to research discussions, methodological refinement, and dissemination activities
• Engage in academic exchange during the research stay at the University of Hamburg
Profile of Ideal Candidates
Applicants should demonstrate:
• A strong academic background in psychology, education, or a related social science discipline
• Solid expertise in quantitative statistical methods (experience with SEM, regression, or advanced survey analysis is an asset)
• Excellent academic English (written and spoken); German language skills are an asset
• High motivation for independent research within an international research context
• Reliability and ability to work autonomously in a remote research environment
